
We are excited to welcome Julio Alvarez & Silvina Tse for their first visit to the DMV!
Julio Alvarez is a Cuban tango dancer and teacher with extensive training in dance, music, and teaching methodology. He has won multiple international tango championships and teaches worldwide, currently based in Milan. Julio is known for his innovative approach to musicality in tango, performing and teaching globally with Silvina Tse.
Silvina Tse began dancing at age six and discovered Argentine tango in 2009. She is a professional tango teacher who helps students develop personal style and clean technique. Silvina teaches and performs internationally, collaborating with Julio Alvarez and Murat Erdemsel on workshops and projects worldwide.

Tango Musicality (All Levels)
7:30 - 9PM: Learn how tango music is structured, from phrase segments to full sections, and explore how to translate that in your dance to be more musically dynamic.
Friday, December 5th
Turns and Flow in Vals (Int/Adv)
7:30 - 9PM: Work on smooth, circular turns that suit the rhythm and continuous energy of Vals. Emphasis on staying connected while keeping the dance light and fluid.
Saturday, December 6th
Colgada Seminar (Int/Adv)
1 - 2:30PM: Part I - Understanding the Colgada.
Learn or refine your technique, balance, and timing to create off-axis movements with clarity and safety.
2:45 - 4:15PM: Part II - Colgadas in Small Spaces.
Explore how to lead/follow compact colgadas designed for crowded floors, focusing on musicality and expressive phrasing.
Sunday, December 7th
Connection in Motion Seminar (Int/Adv)
11:30AM - 1PM: Part I - Creating Movement Together with Sacadas & Ganchos for Both Roles.
Explore how both roles contribute to clean and connected sacadas and ganchos. Leaders build confidence and clarity. Followers practice awareness, timing, and control to respond fluidly. Finally, how to combine Ganchos and Sacadas to develop improvisation.
1:15 - 2:45PM: Part II - Finding Freedom in the Embrace.
Learn how to create space and flexibility within the embrace. Explore how freedom and connection coexist, especially when applying sacadas, ganchos, and circular energy.
